The Good: I got three of these frames in cherry to jazz up a set of posters. It seemed silly to me to spend more money on framing than the artwork itself cost, so these were an economic solution. I appreciated that the clear plastic sheet (note: it is not glass) came with a plastic film on either side, ensuring that all three frames reached me in excellent smudge- and scratch-free condition. Also, the mounting hooks come un-attached so that you can hang these frames either horizontally or vertically, according to your preference. The Bad: Perhaps it is my misinterpretation of the color of a "cherry" stain, but I anticipated a reddish brown, which is what I thought the online picture showed. In reality there is an almost purple tint to the stain. Think of your red-violet crayola crayon from when you were a kid. It was the wrong color for my purposes, but I decided to buy a can of spray paint rather than return them. And those unattached mounting hooks I mentioned? It may be my lack of carpentry experience, but I was convinced that attaching them to the frame was going to split the wood. In the end, I decided to forgo forcing them, and I hung the frames with 3M velcro strips instead. Finally, there is a series of metal tabs around the back of the frame to lock in your artwork. These were flimsy enough that one of them broke off.Pro Tip: For folding and unfolding those tabs on the back, to spare your thumbs/finger tips, use a the tip of a flat-head screwdriver to get each of them started. The frames do the job, but I wouldn’t put them up on my wall. The black on the frame is not black enough. Ok for photos.Good frame. Doesn't come with everything necessary to hang it. I recommend getting your own sawtooth hanger.
